
Ilana Inselbuch is an established artist who enjoys sharing her music through the clarinet. Most recently, Ilana has graduated from the Peabody Conservatory of The Johns Hopkins University studying under Alexander Fiterstein and receiving her Bachelor’s of Music in Clarinet Performance. She was awarded both the Grace Clagett Ranney Prize in Chamber Music and the Azalia H. Thomas Prize for highest G.P.A. in Music Theory in the 2022 Peabody Conservatory Graduating Class.
Ilana has performed at the Brazil Embassy in Washington D.C. as a soloist and chamber player, performing pieces by Osvaldo Lacerda, Edmundo Villani-Côrtes, and Luiz Pardal. She attended the renowned Eastern Music Festival in the summer of 2021 where she played Principal Clarinet under Maestro Gerard Schwarz, Maestro José-Luis Novo and Maestro Grant Cooper. She was present at the Clarinet Maestro Festival (online) in the summer of 2020 where she had the opportunity to play for Yehuda Gilad, Benjamin Adler and Eric Abramovitz. She also attended the International Clarinet Workshop (online) in the summer of 2020 where she was awarded Runner-up of the Sutermeister Capriccio solo competition. Ilana attended the Buffet Summer Academy in 2019 where she received 2nd place in the Solo Competition and a full scholarship to return where she also worked with esteemed artists such as Lawrie Bloom, Wonkak Kim, Florent Héau, Gregory Raden, and Ronald Van Spaendonck. Ilana has also played principal clarinet in the Idaho Orchestra Institute in 2018 and 2019 under the baton of Robert Franz.
Ilana enjoys collaborating with others through the power of music and community. She has collaborated with composers such as Cameron Brown to premiere his piece for solo clarinet Small Pieces for Bb Clarinet and Christopher Enloe to record and premiere his piece for solo clarinet and voice, anyone lived in a pretty how town. She was taken on as a Teaching Artist at the Zemer School of Music in Baltimore, MD where she taught 7-9 year olds private lessons. Ilana was the President and Founder of the Jewish Students Association of Peabody that she created to support and unite the Jewish Students on campus. She has played with the Peabody Symphony Orchestra, Peabody Chamber Orchestra, Peabody Studio Orchestra, Peabody Opera Orchestra, and Peabody Conductor’s Orchestra under the baton of Marin Alsop, Joseph Young and Nicholas Hersh. She also attended the Interlochen Arts Camp from 2014-2018.
